The long-standing
jewel in North London’s market crown is Camden Lock, a historic concoction of old stable buildings, traditional waterways rubbing shoulders with the modern developments now around. The market is a hub of creativity with many independent designers of fashion, jewellery, art works, ornaments, crafts, bags, hats, toiletries and some of truly exotic tastes in the food department.
The weekends are an explosion of sound and colour as Londoners mix it up with visiting tourists all heading up to the lock, out of Camden Town Underground station, up past the Electric Ballroom and Camden’s Market and over the bridge. Summer sees people kicking back and enjoying the whole spectacle, having a drink and a chance to catch up with friends whilst investigating the myriad of stores and stalls.
If you’re looking for interesting and unusual gift ideas you’ll find acres of inspiration here, from the artworks of Killer Bunny to the individual stone carvings of Carved in Stones and the handmade jewellery of Lobe.
Around the market are some top bars, pubs and cafes plus Dingwalls home of Jongleurs comedy club and a great live music.
